Spider-Man: The Musical

When I first read that they were going to make Spider-man the Musical I could not believe my eyes, it was one of those one of those rub your eyes and look again moments. I will admit that on occation I attend the musical theater; Peter Parker did it for Mary Jane and I do it for my girl. I saw a 'Spider-man Show' at Universal Studios, it was a 45 minute musical show; unfortunatly I thought it was really cheesey. At first when I heard the music was being written by Bono of U2 I thought that musical might have a chance but then I read one of the chacarter descriptions in the casting call and that thought went right out the window. Here is a direct quote:

[ARACHNE] Female, 20-35 years old, any ethnicity. A beautiful, boastful young woman turned into a spider for her hubris and lack of respect for the gods. She subsequently appears to Peter Parker and the audience as in turn a powerful spider-woman who comes from another time to inspire Peter; an otherworldly lover; a bride; a terrifying (and sexy) dark goddess of vengeance; a dance partner in a charged and violent spiders dance of death; and, finally, a lonely, fragile young woman. Possesses an ethereal, unique, gorgeous singing voice. Strong Celtic, Balkan style, e.g., Sinead O'Connor. Outside the box ideas are welcomed. Could be someone from the music industry.[s]

I don't claim to be a Spider-man expert, but I have no clue what universe they got that story from. If it was up to me and I was doing a brand new thing on Broadway, like bringing super heroes to the musical theater, I would defnitly go for a classic story line.

Would I like to see this show, yes. Do I think it will do well, unfortunatly no. I think it would be great if the show does well, but I think the show has to be pretty spectaular in order to do so.

I've Seen SPIDER-MAN 3

I saw SPIDER-MAN 3 tonight, I am glad to say that I was part of the opening weekend stats. I thought the movie was great. After watching this movie it is hard for me to say which of the three films was the best, or even which one I like the best, I like them all. I am the type of person that could sit down and watch super hero movies all day everyday. I will say one thing about this movie, in the the other two films you see the Peter Parker's inner struggle, but in the one it's an inner battle. Over all I think it was a great movie, I just wish they had more time to develop the stories surrounding all the characters included in the movie.
I wish I could say more but it say more about it, but the movers show up in two days and there is still a lot of packing to do.

I think Spider-Man 3 is a movie that is definitely worth seeing.

Super Stamps

Just when I thought that there would be no reason in the world why I would ever need to go to the post office or mail a letter, I find out that the US Postal Service is getting into the Super Hero market. As part of the 2007 Commemorative Stamp Program the US Postal Service is coming out with a Marvel Comics character stamp series.
Characters included are

• Spider-Man
• The Incredible Hulk
• Sub-Mariner
• The Thing
• Captain America
• Silver Surfer
• Spider-Woman
• Iron Man
• Elektra
• Wolverine

Also included in the collection with the ten characters are ten covers featuring the characters

• Amazing Spider-Man #1
• Incredible Hulk #1
• Sub-Mariner #1
• Fantastic Four #3
• Captain America #100
• Silver Surfer #1
• Marvel Spotlight #32 (Spider-Woman)
• Iron Man #1
• Daredevil #176 (Elektra)

About the only curious item is "X-Men" #1. Saunders notes it's the one from 1963. Thing is, we all know Wolverine wasn't in that issue.
Whatever. If you can get a stamp of the first X-Men comic and a stamp of Wolverine, so much the better.

I think is totally awesome that the Post Office is doing this, I just might have to start collecting stamps.

As a bit of old news, last July the Post Office came out with DC Comic stamp commemorative series.

Create Your Own Comic

There is an article on cnet.com that reviews the the new software Marvel Heroes Comic Book Creator where you can create your own comic. The heroes to choose from are Spiderman, Elektra and Wolverine along with their evil doer counterparts; booster packs are being created to introduced new characters and scenes to the software package. The programs provides the user with a whole bunch of character and scenery art as well as the classic "BANG", "BOOM" and text bubbles. The software is very easy to use after a few minutes of trying things out the author of the article found that he could make good looking comic pages with only a few minutes of experience and a little trail and error. You can even look at the comic that he created.
I think it would be totally awesome to be able to create your own comic, you could create those scenes that you always wished for. Unfortunately I lack the talent of being able to draw well, so with this program I could create my own stuff. Sometimes, as I was reading through I comic, I would think to myself, what would the rest of the story be like if they decided to do this instead; now I would have the power to create that alternate ending. The possiblities of this software is endless, only limited by your imagination.
